Chateau St. Julien l'Ars & Mountain Writers Series
Intensive Workshop for Writers
With Robert Wrigley and Kim Barnes

Sponsored by Chateau St. Julien l'Ars and Mountain Writers Series

June 26 - July 2, 2004

Immerse yourself in the craft of writing while absorbing the French landscape and staying at a 16th century chateau. This week-long workshop for writers will feature lectures, seminar discussions, and readings by featured writers, culminating in an evening of readings by workshop participants. Daily schedule will allow each writer time to reflect and gather inspiration from the magical surroundings as well as free time to explore the area, take a bike ride or just relax in a quiet corner of the 56-acre estate.

Summer 2004 will feature poet Robert Wrigley and fiction/non-fiction writer Kim Barnes.

Kim BarnesKim Barnes is the award-winning author of two memoirs—In the Wilderness, a Pulitzer Prize finalist, and Hungry for the World. With Mary Clearman Blew, she edited the anthology Circle of Women. Her poetry, essays and stories have appeared in many literary magazines, including The Georgia Review, Shenandoah, and The Seattle Review.

Robert Wrigley's collections of poetry include Lives of the Animals (Penguin, 2003); Reign of Snakes (1999), winner of the Kingsley Tufts Award; In the Bank of Beautiful Sins (1995), winner of the San Francisco Poetry Center Book Award and Lenore Marshall Award finalist; What My Father Believed (1991); Moon in a Mason Jar (1986); and The Sinking of Clay City (1979). His work has also been published in numerous anthologies and literary journals.

Enrollment in the workshop is open to writers of all genres. Deadline for priority admission: March 15. Rolling admission until April 1 or workshop capacity is reached.
